Our Pastor, Reverend Sloan Gordon, Sr.


Pastor Sloan Gordon is an anointed man of God who has been preaching for over 52 years and pastoring for over 40 years.


On January 8, 1967, he accepted his calling from God and became a licensed minister.  In August of 1969, he was ordained as a Reverend by the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in New Jersey. In 1974, at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church located in Jersey City, New Jersey, Reverend Gordon served as an Assistant Minister to Pastor L. G. Johnson.  Soon after, under the spiritual leadership of Pastor Ernie L. Murray, Sr. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Reverend Sloan Gordon became an Associate Minister.  At Mt. Olive, he served as an Associate Minister until 1980.


In July of 1980, Reverend Sloan Gordon accepted the calling as a Pastor at the Angelic Baptist Church in Bayonne, New Jersey.  He served as the pastor of Angelic for 19 years before retiring. 

After retiring, Pastor Sloan Gordon returned to his home state of South Carolina in 1999.  He joined the Pleasant Lane Baptist Church, located in Edgefield, South Carolina under the leadership of Pastor J. T. Tate.  In December of 2001, Pastor Tate retired as the pastor of Pleasant Lane. In February of 2002, Pastor Sloan Gordon was appointed the church's 14th pastor.  He served as the pastor for almost seven years. 


The first Sunday in June of 2014, Reverend Sloan Gordon, Sr. was invited to Cedar Spring Baptist Church, located in Plum Branch, South Carolina.  As a guest pastor, he helped the church family to heal. Reverend Sloan Gordon, an anointed man from God helped the church to grow spiritually through the transition of seeking a new pastor.   Later on, he became the church Interim Pastor.


On December 6, 2015, Reverend Sloan Gordon, Sr. was elected as pastor of the Cedar Spring Baptist Church.  On January 24, 2016, he was installed as the church Pastor.


Pastor Sloan Gordon is married to Reverend Pamila Bussey Gordon, collectively they have six adult children and several grandchildren.


One of Pastor Sloan Gordon’s much-loved scripture is Psalms 91: 1 “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”
